LA Compost - Get involved around LA
Grow NYC - Get involved around NYC
Pros: reduces waste and helps eliminate landfills which minimizes carbon emissions from them
Cons: depending on where you live you might have to drop off the compost somewhere
Review: There is no excuse for why every single one of us isn't composting. It is one of the biggest things we can do as individuals to help reduce our waste problem. It's easy and every convenient to do at home or around your city within the community! Get to composting!
Happy Sustainability Sunday! We are so happy that we got to volunteer with @lacompost today to help at their new Griffith Park compost hub! It was great learning more about composting while meeting amazing environmentally-conscious people! 🌎
While Americans, on average, throw away over 1200 lbs EACH of organic material per year, there are so many organizations that are helping reduce the 40 million tons of food waste being dumped into landfills.
@lacompost is collecting thousands of pounds of scraps per week, emphasizing the need for composts to the community to help make it more accessible for everyone.
Almost a quarter of our waste comes from food, and nearly 50% of our trash that ends up in our landfills is compostable. We each have the ability to make a simple change that will have a tremendous impact on our planet. Get involved in your local community and find ways you can help give back the nutrients that Mother Earth bears to us; it’s the circle of liiiffeeee!!! 💙💚
